When/why did you start doing crossfit?

I started CrossFit in the fall of 2013.  I started CrossFit after my best friend talked me into trying it!!!  It took me just one free Saturday class to get me hooked.  Signed up for Foundation classes right after that.  But ultimately, I started CrossFit because one day I was at the playground with my daughter and I couldn't crouch down to get into the slide.  I thought to myself...I don't want to be one of those mom's who can't play with their kids because of their weight.  Three years later, I am still here and proud to say that I can race my kids down the slide!!!

What do you like about crossfit?

There is alot to like about CF.  The variety of workouts: I don't think that I have ever done the same workout unless it was benchmark. The community: you meet so many people from all walks of life, plus my brother works out here so we get some quality time together.  Reaching milestones: being able to hit a new personal record (PR) is an amazing feeling!!  I grew up an athlete; starting gymnstics when I was 3, playing softball, volleyball and basketball in high school.  Staying active after high school with kickball and slow pitch softball. Then I had kids and took a little break from being active, then found CFGR...wish I would have started earlier!!!!

What are you overall feelings about health and fitness?

I feel that I am a happier person when I am eating right and working out.  If I am not eating right, I don't feel like working out and have no energy.  If I am not working out, I slack on my diet and feel lousy.  If I stick to my workout schedule and eat healthy, I find myself with more energy and honestly a happier person!!!  (I think my husband and kids like it when I am happy!!!) Being a mom of 2 kids, I feel that working out is an important part of my life.  And I think it's great that my kids get to see how passionate I am about working out and being healthy.

What do you like best about CFGR/why did you pick CFGR?

CFGR is my happy place!  I get to work out with my friends and enjoy some 'me' time.  Everyone is super nice and I enjoy meeting new people.

Favorite moment at CFGR?

One of my personal favorite moments is when I got my first pull up!  I started CFGR with jumping pull-ups and NEVER thought I would EVER get a pull up. I always stayed in my comfort zone with the jumping pull ups, then Sam moved to the black band, then I went to the green band, then the red.  I knew that if I wanted to get a pull-up I would need to practice outside of normal workouts.  So, after every workout I work on them even if I was exhausted/tired.  Finally...I got my 1st pull up!!!!  Shortly after that I was able to string 2,3,4,5 pull-ups together!!
